Cookie Policy
Every cookie this website can place on your device, listed in full. It is a short list, and most sites cannot say that.
Last updated: 21 July 2026
The short version
- Just browsing this site sets no cookies at all.
- We use no advertising, tracking or social media cookies. There are none to turn off.
- The only optional item is the Google map on Find Us, and it stays switched off until you allow it.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It can be read back later, which is how a site remembers that you are signed in, or that you have already dismissed a message.
Similar technologies do the same job by other means. The main one here is local storage, which is a small amount of space in your browser where a site can keep a note to itself. We use it in exactly one place, described below.
The rules that govern cookies in the UK are the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside the UK GDPR. In short: anything that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for needs your permission first.
2. Cookies set by this website
Browsing this site sets no cookies at all. There is nothing here to accept or turn off.
3. Local storage we use
| Name | Purpose | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
oig_consent |
Remembers the choice you made about the Google map, so that we do not ask you again on every page. Contains only your answer and the date you gave it. | Strictly necessary, first party | Until you clear your browser data or change your choice |
Storing your answer is itself exempt from consent, for the sensible reason that a site has to remember "no" in order to honour it.
4. Third-party cookies
Google Maps, on our Find Us page
An embedded Google map is delivered by Google, not by us. When it loads, your browser contacts Google's servers, which reveals your IP address to Google and allows Google to set its own cookies on your device. Those cookies are Google's, and they can be used for Google's own purposes including security, preferences and, potentially, advertising.
Google's cookies typically include names such as NID, CONSENT and SOCS, with lifetimes of up to two years. We cannot list them precisely or promise the list will not change, because we do not control them. Google explains its own cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
This is why we ask. The map is blocked until you agree to it. Decline, and Google is never contacted, no request leaves your browser, and no Google cookie is created. You still get our full address in plain text and a normal link you can choose to follow.
5. What we do not use
For the avoidance of doubt, this website has:
- No Google Analytics cookies. Our visitor counter is described in our Privacy Policy and uses no cookies whatsoever.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No Meta, Instagram, TikTok or X tracking pixels.
- No embedded videos, chat widgets or comment systems, all of which usually bring their own trackers.
- No third-party fonts. We host our fonts on our own server precisely so that reading our pages does not report you to anyone.
6. Change your choice
You can change your mind whenever you like, and it takes one click. Withdrawing permission is exactly as easy as giving it.
7. Controlling cookies in your browser
Your browser gives you the final say, and can block or delete cookies from any site including ours. Bear in mind that blocking everything will break the sign-in on many websites, though it will not break anything for an ordinary visitor here.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no agreed standard for how sites must respond, and many ignore it. In our case the question barely arises, since we do not track you in the first place and the one optional item is off by default.
